A Brief History
Honduras's coffee story began relatively late, with widespread cultivation only taking hold in the 20th century, shifting the economic focus from bananas. Government support and international aid spurred significant growth, transforming Honduras into a major coffee producer known for its diverse regions and high-quality Arabica beans. Today, the industry is vital to the nation's economy, with organizations like IHCAFE and a new generation of entrepreneurs driving continuous improvement in quality and farming practices.
A Taste of Honduras
This special Honduran coffee is an organic, women-produced microlot from the '18 Rabbits' farms, a collective spearheaded by Dulce Marlen. She and her husband are leaders in sustainable agriculture, focusing on restoring the soil naturally. The 18 Rabbits group is celebrated for its exceptional coffee quality, with members consistently placing high in the prestigious Honduras Cup of Excellence competition. They're also known for their experimental fermentation and flavor development. This coffee lot is certified organic and showcases the unique work of these indigenous, female farmers.
